WWE NXT – July 11

Undisputed ERA once again stand atop the NXT Tag Team division.

In a perilous battle that pushed Moustache Mountain to their physical and emotional brink, Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly defeated Tyler Bate & Trent Seven to regain the NXT Tag Team Titles, becoming only the second team to win the championship twice.

Perhaps just as telling as Undisputed ERA’s historic reign was the way it began: with Bate throwing in the towel to save Seven from a potentially career-threatening injury.

Bate’s drastic measure came after more than 18 minutes of fiercely hard-hitting action, the overwhelming majority of which saw Strong & O’Reilly maliciously work over Seven’s knee. Seven was hurt in the early goings after having his knee slammed onto the steel steps. Undisputed ERA continued the attack from there, using quick tags and a bevvy of limb-twisting submission holds to weaken The Don.

Seven fought courageously and even managed to tag Bate into the action at one point, allowing Textbook Tyler to rock Strong & O’Reilly with thunderous slams and throws.

Once Bate was pushed back into his corner, however, Seven tagged himself back into the match. Though the mustachioed mauler had enough energy to stun Strong with the Seven Stars Lariat, his knee gave out moments later as he attempted a Torture Rack. That gave Undisputed ERA the opening they needed to again target his knee.

O’Reilly locked in an airtight double kneebar, and despite Seven’s desperate attempts to reach the ropes or tag out, there was no budging. Meanwhile, Bate stood on the apron, visibly distraught over watching his teammate, friend and mentor in agony. After much contemplation, and against the wishes of his partner, Bate reluctantly threw in the towel, signaling to the referee his desire to end the match.

As Adam Cole & Bobby Fish joined Strong & O’Reilly in crowing about Undisputed ERA’s monumental win, Bate rushed to Seven’s side, showing that above all else, their friendship comes first.

WWE NXT – July 4

Following their NXT Tag Team Championship victory that had the world talking, Moustache Mountain will defend their newly won titles for the first time against the team they bested to obtain them: Undisputed ERA. Wasting no time invoking their rematch clause, Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly will take on Tyler Bate & Trent Seven next Wednesday on WWE NXT. Commenting on the upcoming title defense, Bate & Seven were clearly not too pleased after Undisputed ERA accused them of being flukes and jokes after their victory at the NXT U.K. Championship special. The duo also seemed delighted by the idea of defeating Strong & O’Reilly in the States after beating them in their home country of England.

WWE NXT – June 27

Moustache Mountain’s enormous NXT Tag Team Title win in London established Tyler Bate & Trent Seven as the team to beat on the black-and-yellow brand, but their problems with former champions Undisputed ERA are far from over.

NXT North American Champion Adam Cole, Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly ambushed Bate & Seven’s scheduled opponents, Dave Dixon & Carl Axelrod, from behind as they entered Full Sail Live. Declaring Moustache Mountain’s win a “fluke” and Bate & Seven “phonies,” the trio surrounded the champions and appeared ready to pounce until Ricochet rushed in to even the odds. William Regal acted within moments and ruled that the two squads would meet on the spot, setting the foundation for a rip-roaring six-man main event.

Both sides unloaded a frenzy of high-octane offense that left the NXT Universe breathless. Ricochet & Moustache Mountain showed incredible team chemistry, while Undisputed ERA employed brutal strikes and a few shortcuts to control the pace. Late in the match, Ricochet tagged in and unleashed his latest gif-worthy innovation, backflipping out of a high/low combination by Strong & O’Reilly.

Ricochet followed up with a 630 Splash on The Panama City Playboy moments later, but O’Reilly broke up the ensuing pin attempt. The action then spilled to the floor, where Strong demolished Ricochet with a modified End of Heartache onto the edge of the ring apron before rolling him into the ring for Cole to pin.

Undisputed ERA’s trip to the U.K. may have shrunk their championship trove, but it also intensified their competitive fire, as Ricochet & Moustache Mountain found out tonight.

NXT UK Championship Special

Night Two at Royal Albert Hall kicked off with a bang — or, rather, a Bop and a Bang — as Moustache Mountain defended their home turf and became the new NXT Tag Team Champions with a stirring victory against Undisputed ERA.

The irreverent champions, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong, unloaded a cavalcade of hard strikes, but Tyler Bate & Trent Seven were firing on all cylinders, both individually and as a unit. “Textbook” Bate’s remarkable feats of strength (such as fighting off O’Reilly’s sleeper hold while deadlifting Strong into a suplex) were game-changing, as was Seven’s savvy ring awareness.

Undisputed ERA, who were perhaps still reeling from losing to British Strong Style in a Six-Man Tag Team Match the night before, also suffered from pivotal miscalculations. A missed high-low attempt late in the match opened the door for Seven & Bate to hit O’Reilly with an incredible Torture Rack/flying knee drop combination. The referee counted to three and the NXT Universe erupted. As chants of “You deserve it!” carried through Royal Albert Hall, Moustache Mountain took the titles over the ring barricade and celebrated with their countrymen.

WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament 2018

After enduring Undisputed ERA’s insults and mockery of England for weeks on end, British Strong Style refused to be beaten on their own turf by the bombastic, gold-clad faction.

NXT North American Adam Cole and NXT Tag Team Champions Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong employed quick tags to isolate Trent Seven and, later, WWE U.K. Champion Pete Dunne from their teammates. Nonetheless, Dunne, Seven & Tyler Bate forged ahead, fighting both for national pride and the intense desire to knock the pompous Undisputed ERA down a peg.

The action was nonstop, and the fans inside Royal Albert Hall hung on every exchange as the battle grew into an instant classic. Seven regained control for his team after drilling Strong with the Seven Stars Lariat late in the match. Cole’s attempt to weaponize his NXT North American Title provided a costly distraction (allowing Strong to blindside Seven), and a pier-six brawl broke out from there. The BruiserWeight wiped out Cole & Strong with a moonsault to the floor, allowing Moustache Mountain to earn the cathartic victory after decimating O’Reilly with a rebound clothesline/dragon suplex combination.

Following their big triumph, Moustache Mountain now look ahead to challenging Strong & O’Reilly for the NXT Tag Team Titles tomorrow at Royal Albert Hall.
